TFOL22 Curator's statement
Artificial intelligence has triggered a lot of imaginaries since it appeared in the fifties. At the very beginning, it was about elaborating theoretical concepts like artificial neural networks. Then, essentially dedicated to experts, Machine Learning tools were developed by researchers. Until very recently, when emerging platforms allowed basically everybody to generate new forms through algorithms by typing in words in a browser. Thus, in a certain way, poetry became one of the most sought-for skills in the creative coder’s community. By observing this new AI Art Generation, one not only learns how it works but also how it thinks – a precious knowledge for those who want to be part of the creation of the future applications, services … In brief, our future world. It is up to us, whatever our social or cultural origins, educations, or genders, to better choose among the possible futures that are emerging from our digital imaginaries. By working on a more inclusive artificial intelligence that might be useful in so many domains for the sustainable development of our society. The Future of Living puts sustainability of our common future in the centre of this conversation, gathering artists and non-artists as much as coders and non-coders by proposing two days full of keynotes, panels, performances, a workshop, and an exhibition. All participants of the symposium will come from the EUNIC Brussels Cluster. 1
